Lets All Be Above the Influence
Usually I only write about music news but I had the urge to write about this controversial topic that has been and still is going viral all over social media and newspapers like LA Times
There have been countless overdoses of a drug we all refer to as “molly,” which is also known as MDMA. Numerous incidents of overdose and hospitalizations have happened in just a short amount of time. Events including Hard Summer which resulted in 1 death, Zedds show in Boston with 1 dead and 2 were in critical condition. Then a week later two were dead at Electric Zoo NYC, and now just reported on Be The Rave with 1 death at a warehouse party. All of these death cases are because of the drug molly.
Overdoses at these events have been negatively affecting the dance music scene. There has been cancellation of shows including Pretty Lights and Above & Beyond concert. Zedd cancelled his second show in Boston. Moreover, the second day of Electric Zoo was cancelled due to the 2 deaths of the teenagers on the first day of Electric Zoo.
A lot of people have been pointing fingers that these raves are the only places where kids take this drug, which as a result is causing these teens to overdose on such a dangerous drug. Well as of myself I am very familiar with these events and have been attending for many years. There are tons of people that go to raves who don’t take any drugs and also on the other end where people do take this drug or other types of drugs. I can say that some do abuse the drug, others take it to enhance their festival experience, and some may even be peer-pressured to trying this drug. Whatever it may be we are all putting ourselves at risk.
As us young teens, even myself think of ourselves as invisible and that nothing will happen to us even if we just want to “try a little bit”. Reality is that we are not invisible. Unfortunately, some have learned it the hard way and now there is no turning back.
As Kaskade wrote a tweet saying:
“You can OD on a small amount of the wrong thing. You can OD on the smallest dose you’ve ever taken.”
These wise words are very true and still some people do not believe this. Even myself, I have witnessed a few deaths and even hospitalization because of taking this drug and not them necessarily taking such big amounts. We never really know what is in that pill or capsule.

Whether we take this drug at events, house parties, electronic music festivals we all need to remember what we are putting ourselves at risk for. Even though this drug may make us feel like we are on top of the world, feeling the highest of high, and dancing to that ongoing beat. Ask yourself this… is it really worth risking my life? We are all better than this drug; moreover we are better than any drug!

Nirvana Bassist Krist Novoselic Plays on Modest Mouse LP
After reading about the last few years of Nirvana and the making of their last album, In Utero in the current issue of Rolling Stone Magazine, I thought it would be nice to talk about Krist Novoselic playing for the new Modest Mouse LP.
Krist Novoselic had mentioned in a recent interview with Spotify that this new album is “pretty edgy.”

Modest Mouse has remained quite over the past few years after their last EP release in 2009, No One’s First and You’re Next. The band even canceled a summer tour in Europe and the UK to work on this new album. So there is a legit excuse to why they had canceled their summer tour. Even though we don’t know the title of the new album, nor the release date, they do promise to bring something spectacular to the table. Modest Mouse posted on their website, “We do appreciate our fans and promise that we will make it up to you next year.”
The fans are waiting…

AFI “17 Crimes” has become a hit single that’s been playing on many radio stations like Kroq and other alternative/rock radio stations. AFI has always remained true to the music that they create. Over the years they have never changed the style of their music but still rather to gage millions of fans all over the world because of their pure and organic talent.

If you are not that “die hard fan” you most probably know AFIs top hit in mid 2000s “Miss Murder.” Now they are set to release their upcoming album Burials on October 22nd. (which you can pre-order on iTunes now). Moreover they will be heading on a tour starting tomorrow, September 21st at Riot Fest in Byers, Colorado. They will hit up many places and even right here in Hollywood at the famous Henry Fonda Theatre, which unfortunately is sold out.

This video I have posted is AFIs official music video for “17 Crimes”

Check out their full itinerary on www.afireinside.net …. Enjoy!

Aokify Yourself with Steve Aokis’  Aokify American Tour 2013.

This tour has just been announced, and recently uploaded a trailer for his new tour.  I have uploaded the video for all of you to watch. Steve will be bringing in a few other talented artists (on selective dates) like Waka Flocka Flame, Borgore, and Pharrell Williams. Steve is bringing in a diverse group of talented artists for his Aokify American Tour. I’m sure some may be taken back by this diverse line-up but if you have experienced Steve Aoki s’ crazy parties he knows how to throw it down. No doubt his tour will be a huge rage cake-throwing party.

Information on tickets and official tour dates will be out soon!

We Can’t Get Enough of Nine Inch Nails…

NIN has been playing this new song I have posted up, “Find My Way,” at concerts all over, which is another hit track off of their upcoming album Hesitation Marks. Now the studio version of this track has been featured on BBC Radio 1.

Luckily we have the chance to hear this awesome track.  Most probably I have mentioned in other NIN post but I will say it again; NIN will kick off an arena tour this September and also they will release their album, Hesitation Marks on September 3rd

Two Door Cinema Club Unveil Their Team Up With Madeon for a Dancey Fall U.S. Tour
The Irish trio explores and has become more flexible with the music they create. After numerous performances this summer, from Lollapalooza to Osheaga Festival they really have been growing as artists. Even with all these shows the group is releasing a new single, “Changing of the Seasons ” produced by dance artist Madeon. "We brought in a friend, someone who brings a very unique sonic quality," guitarist Sam Halliday told Rolling Stone backstage at Lolla.
Bassist, Kevin Baird mentions to Rolling Stone that "We were making the record and we just had bits left over that we didn’t really have time for. So it’s sort of a continuation from that and we were just sort of on a roll writing music.”
This track is a continuation of last year’s album Beacon. Even though this is a one-time opportunity to explore more of what they are able to produce, this still shows how all genres of music can be collaborated. There have been tons of collaborations with electronic producers, rap artists, and not even rock to alternative rock. There has been tons of criticism with the rise of electronic music and these artists collaboration with others outside of their genre but at the end of the day, they all just love making music and sharing their passion to the world.
